Argentina Approves Mercosur-EU Trade Agreement

Minister of Security Patricia Bullrich announced that she already has the report on the trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union and assured that Argentina is close to becoming the first country to approve it. "We are one step away from Argentina being the first country to approve and join the world's largest trade deal and one of the most important in our history," the official expressed through her social networks. In her message, Bullrich emphasized that the initiative will be voted on "soon" and linked parliamentary progress with the government's international strategy. "We are taking another step towards integration into the world led by the President," she said in reference to Javier Milei. The agreement between Mercosur and the European Union aims to establish a vast free trade area between the two blocs, with tariff reduction, market opening, and common rules in commercial matters. If approved by Congress, Argentina would advance in the ratification of one of the most relevant trade treaties of recent decades, in line with the official agenda of economic opening and international insertion.
